    Description

A true rarity.  According to the PCGS website, only 500 of these coins are known to exist.  This 1866 Shield Nickel has a repunched date, 1866 over 1866, and it has lathe lines on the reverse (VP-011).  The repunched date is just slightly south of the first punch and can be seen in the close-up picture of the date, which would be an FS-305.
Lathe lines are concentric circles of raised lines, visible on the reverse from the lathe turning process.  On this coin they can be seen running between the stars above the word "cents".
This is an extremely rare coin.  This nickel was minted at the historic Philadelphia Mint and certified by NGC.  This rare coin is made of 75% copper and 25% nickel.
The case is new and does not have any scratches on it.
