1866 Shield Nickel, Almost Uncirculated, Die Cracks & Lathe Lines 0902-01

Description

1866 Shield Nickel, details of Almost Uncirculated. Old cleaning which shows mostly on the Reverse.  Well struck for the date, which is a bit unusual.  Very heavy Obverse die crack at "In God", probably soon to be a cud that would condemn the die.
Also heavy "lathe lines" behind the annulet and showing inside the bottom on the shield, as well as on the Reverse inside the stars on the left side of the coin.  The location of these on the Reverse is much more unusual, the first I can remember seeing in a long time.  A coin worthy of study perhaps for a specialist in the series.  I am happy to combine shipping for multiple items – for best service please use the ebay Shopping Cart feature and ASK FOR A COMBINED INVOICE before payment, or contact me for a quote.
