1867 Shield Nickel (no rays variety) with solidly Fine to Choice Fine detail. Coin has a dark patina likely from being stored in humid or dank dark environment. The TPG services tend to call this environmental damage when you submit coins of this ilk, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I say a dipped coin in sulfuric acid is human caused damage but that is an acceptable means of coin curation so the decision lies within the individual
