I have spent a lot of time looking at this piece and I am fairly certain this is the closed 3 variety however
variety's
have never been my area of expertise so please make your own
judgment

Reverse: all details crisp and sharp with virtually no signs of wear. The ONLY thing that makes me consider this AU and not MS is I expect there to be a bit more luster but reverse is a SOLID au. Lines in stars are crisp and clear. Wording and rim show no signs of wear.
Observe: Horizontal lines in shield present but a little less crisp than would be ideal (hence why I consider the piece AU) but the horizontal lines are not hard to see and are clearly present.
Vertical
lines are a bit better in my opinion. Rest of the piece has sharp crisp details including the wording and the rim.
Piece should be a SOLID AU and may even score a bit better on a good day.
