Description
This plaster model was produced by the WPA (Works Progress Administration), a part of the New Deal to get America back on its feet during the Great Depression. The WPA produced such models to be used as educational visual aids by schools, libraries and museums. Models were produced beginning in 1935 and into the later 1930's. Among the buildings were a great variety homes from peoples around the world. This model of the San Francisco modern town house stands out as perhaps the only modern architectural model produced by the WPA.The condition of the model is reflective of its age and construction. There are numerous chips and flakes and many damaged edges. There are small strokes of pale blue paint on the front and side and faint scribbling on one side (I believe in pencil). All this having been said, the model displays well and will certainly be a crown in your collection. I have provided photos of the building from all sides and angles, and closeup views of damage in the last 2 photos. Please review all photos carefully, as they are considered part of the description.
