    Description

WOW! This cast brass base is incredible! It has a bell-shaped bottom with three risque Victorian lady legs pointing the toes of their lace-up boots to hold...something! A true mystery. I have searched and searched, and I just can't find anything like it. I am pretty confident that the legs are on the top as shown in the first 5 pictures, because the feet and boots are so fine and pointed they wouldn't support the bell that well. The whole thing is heavy, over 5 lbs., and if the bell was supposed to be at the top, it wouldn't have been made so thick and weighty. Also, the inside of the bell is not polished/finished, like the exterior, and like it would be if it were to hold something.  And as for it being a bell, well, I see no loop or way to hold a clapper. But in the last photo I showed what it would look like if the sexy brass legs were "down".
I assume it held some sort of vase, bowl or urn...? A sculpture?  If that pointy part wasn't in the middle I would've guessed that it held a gypsy crystal gazing ball.  If you know and would like to enlighten me, I would appreciate it.
The piece is a little over 9" tall. It is about 6 1/4" from toe to toe. The bell bottom is 6" dia.
