    Description

Up for auction is an antique 19th century Victorian white marble doorstop door stop recently found at auction in Lancaster County PA.  Doorstops such as these were generally made by the stonemasons who worked in Victorian houses doing fireplaces, floors etc.  Often these were made from remnants to match.  This example has relief flourishes in each corner and features a white porcelain handle that appears re-glued.  Minor rust to screw.  There is a broken foot with a make-do repair.  Unsigned unmarked.  Nice boot jack cut sides.  Several losses along edges.  Quite decorative or great for any stone carver.
    Best of luck in bidding.
