Here is an original antique cast iron roof ornament called a snow bird or snow guard.  These snow birds were attached to the roof and prevented the snow from sliding off the roof and falling on people or objects below. Now some people hang them on the wall as a little shelf. The overall length of the entire piece is 9". Width is 3". Height is 3.5". This one is embossed S&S MFG. CO. SLATINGTON PA. PAT. JUL. 24 1923. Snow bids came in a variety of shapes and sizes and are a fun and affordable way to collect antiques. Please refer to pictures for exact condition.
