  • Condition: Great condition. These have been stripped of old finish and lightly sanded. Minor bumps and flaws. Most of them have nail holes on the front that will need to be filled with wax or putty. A bit more sanding and they are ready for a coat of finish and installation in your home! I'd rate them at 90+ on a 100 point scale but you are the final judge so please review my high-definition photographs to fully appreciate the condition.

    Description

    About these items:
    An incredible and rare set of 35 (thirty-five) elaborate oak Victorian corner blocks c.1880.  These are quite substantial and handsome.    They are large (9 1/4” tall  x 4 3/8" wide) and feature an incredibly detailed carved flower in the center.  These are solid oak and some of them display the 'flaking' you find in quartersawn oak.  If you are looking for an impressive set of corner blocks for your Victorian home, you should seriously consider these...how often are you going to find 35 of them?
    I have stripped off the old varnish and lightly sanded the blocks.  All old nails have been cut flush off the backs.  All you need to do is fill the old nail holes, apply finish and install them.
    In my photographs, I took a typical block and sprayed it with mineral sprits so you can see what they look like with a clear finish.  Of course you could also stain these any color you need.
    These are antique, so you shouldn't expect them to be perfect, but they in very good condition and look great when installed (see the second photo to see one of these corner blocks that I installed in my home.)
    Measurements:  4 3/8" wide x 9 1/4" tall.  The oak is 1 1/16" thick.  The 'flower" in the center has a 3" diameter...which means you could reduce the width of these corner blocks down to a bit more than 3" if you chose to.
    Note:  The descriptions above are accurate for 32 of the 35 corner blocks, there are three exceptions:
    1) One block has a damaged center flower (parts of it are missing)
    2)  One block is only 3 3/8 inches wide.  This block has also been refinished.
    3)  One block is only 3 1/2 inches wide.  this block has also been refinished.
