    Description

This is a Pair of Antique English Oak Architectural Panels with Oak Leaf Motif.
At the time of the original listing, we are in the process of listing a large number of antique and vintage items purchased in England.  These items are an eclectic mix including gold and sterling jewelry, and many unique, and in some cases, one of a kind items, in wood, brass, and iron, and other materials as well.
Among the items purchased on this were a variety of other antique and vintage wooden ware items and treen, and antique hardware and related items.  We also have a wide variety of items in these categories in our ebay store.
The seller told us the panels were thought to be 18th Century pieces Circa 1780.  The seller believed the panels for be architectural pieces of wall decor, paneling, or similar, rather than having been salvaged from furniture.
The panels have beautiful scrolled oak leaf motif carvings in very high relief.  A number of closeup photos show the beauty and detail of the carvings.  Each panel is about 32" long and 5 1/8" wide.  The panels are 1/4" thick at the edges and the maximum depth of the carvings is about 3/4".
The panels could be used in vertical or horizontal.  The photos show them in both orientations with our brick fireplace as a backdrop.  The size is shown along a yardstick, and the photo with the panels on either side of the fireplace also provide a good illustration of the size and how they will look if displayed vertically.
These beautiful panels, thought to be well over 200 years old, are very versatile and could be incorporated in your decor in a myriad of ways!
    Condition:
As found, the panels were quite dry.  They were first cleaned, and then oiled with Conrad's "18th Century Formula Woodfood Oil" to restore the beautiful color of the oak.
One panel has a fairly minor, narrow crack at one end with the approximate visible extents indicate on both sides with blue arrows.
There is also a fairly small naturally occuring knot hole toward the middle of the length, as seen, circled in blue on both the front and back in a pair of photos.
Overall, the panels are in very good condition, especially considering their age.
