This 10 pack (ten individual filters) are 6"x4" refillable MERV 16 specially made face mask filters that are designed to be used in your cloth or cotton face masks.  They give any mask the same filtering properties as nano masks because they use nanofibers.  These filter inserts are soft and breathable and safe against skin so you can even place them inside your mask even if your mask doesn't have a filter pocket. They sit securely against most cotton masks without much movement.
These filters are made from Filti, the number one ranked filter material as determined by independent tests conducted by the Michigan Mask Response (maskfaq dot com) and featured in numerous BusinessInsider stories about the best materials for homemade and DIY facemasks.  They are lightweight, breathable, and provide even better filtration than bulky quilting cotton.
Note that they are now slightly "sea green foam" in color, but still the same amazing filter material!  This lightweight fabric is actually made of three layers bonded together.  The two outer propylene layers are sonically bonded to a nanofiber middle layer.

Stop using dryer sheets, furnace filters and other materials that aren't designed to be breathed in and could pose future lung damage.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) specifically states that a cloth face mask should "include multiple layers of fabric" for the best prevention.  Filti is a lightweight, breathable newly available cloth material sold specifically for face mask filtering.  These filters will serve as another protective layer in your cloth or cotton face masks.

About Filti Filter Material

Filti Face Mask material is made in the USA and constructed from polypropylene spunbound nonwoven with a Nanofiber fine filtration layer and surface layer of polyester nonwoven.  It is a polypropylene/Nanofiber/Polyester composite filter media finished with sonic lamination.  It has a MERV rating of 16 through ASHRAE 52.2 testing.
Extended Use and Re-Use of Filti Filter Material

These filters do lose efficiency after direct washing.  Remove your filter before washing and drying your cloth face mask.
The manufactures of Filti recommend using the material in a disposable fashion or referring to the CDC guidelines for a method of material sanitization (link below) that does not affect efficiency. They cannot give recommendations as to how long a “single-use” is considered because that answer relies on many factors including the environment (inside/outside), proximity to others, the risk level of people they will be exposed to, and also if the use is at high risk themselves (children, pregnant women, elderly, immunodeficiencies, etc.).
If you wish to sanitize your filter(s) Filti recommends following CDC guidelines:
1.
Place filter material between two sheets of aluminum foil on a cookie sheet in an oven.
2.
Place a bowl water on a second rack in the oven.
3.
Set oven temp to 150 degrees Farenheit (or lowest setting) for at least 30 minutes.  The steam heat will sanitize your Filti material.
Likewise, you can sanitize your filters with a crockpot, pressure cooker, rice cooker or even an instapot. Look online for general instructions.  Filti works as a filter alone but most health experts recommend using a face mask that has multiple layers, preferably of different types of material.  Filter works well with cotton and you CAN use double layers of Filti if you wish.
Personal Experience

The healthy adults in my family have three cloth face masks each.  We put one filter into the mask when we're going out for a shopping trip and then remove the filter and wash the cloth mask on the "Sanitize" setting on our washing machine.  We personally re-use our filter for about a week (usually less than 8 hours of actual use) before replacing it with a fresh one, depending upon how long we're out and what sort of environment we're in.  This process might become daily when school starts up for us again.
When we run a load of cloth masks through the washer we also take out all the Filti filters and steam them in the oven.  The filters are ready sanitized and ready for use again before the cloth masks are even dry.

We ship via USPS First Class mail, which gets your filters to you as quickly as possible at the lowest cost. Because they are "packages" we have to pay the First Class package rate, as opposed to the flat envelope rate.  We typically price our shipping at a small loss to us.
